Create VRM

Prepare

You need these for preparations about create VRM.

  • Download UniVRM. UniVRM
  • Install unity. Unity
  • FBX file with humanoid bone.

Download UniVRM

https://github.com/dwango/UniVRM/releases Please access for GitHUB release page from this link.
Use unitypackage about UniVRM.
Now 2019/02/05 “ UniVRM-0.49_43af.unitypackage ” is newest.


Create project for VRM

Open Unity and create new project.
Input project name at “ Project name ” and click “ Create project ”.


Change Color of “Directional Light” for white.


Drag an unitypackage of UniVRM to Assets and drop it.


Press “Import”.


If you can see VRM on Unity menu, you can complete import.


Add FBX

Create new folder for import of FBX.
Right click for Assets folder and [Create]→[Folder].

You can use some names, but now plese create for “Model” folder.


Drag FBX and textures files for “Model” folder and drop it.
For example, let comvert this model FBX to VRM. アリシア・ソリッド(Alicia)


Let set Humanoid of FBX.

  1. Select FBX.
  2. Select “Rig” on Inspector. If you can't see Inspector, let check this. [Window]→[General]→[Inspector]
  3. Set Humanoid of Animation type and Apply.


Set Humanoid bone

Check bone after setting Humanoid.
Click “Configure…“
If some pop up about “save scene”, rename and save your scene.


Change window for setting about Humanoid bone.
If your model is all good, all parts green states on Inspecor. This situation press “Done” and next step.

Some parts red states, it can't be any error about Humanoid. Please check this link. トラブル対処法:Humanoidボーン設定が異常


Set Materials.

Add FBX model on scene after setup Humanoid.
Drag FBX on Scene window, and drop it.


Select some object (body, eye, etc…), you can see materials atached for object.
Let change shader for “VRM/MToon”. Defult set of shadow is pink and change it white or gray.

Some Unity versions make you can't change materials.

Create meta of VRM

Finish setting materials, please select root object of model.
And click in menu for [VRM]→[UniVRM-0.49]→[Export humanoid].


Pop up “VRM Exporter” window so you can input “Title, Author” and press “Export”.

If you get thease error massage, your FBX don't set for Humanoid yet. Please check this link. Humanoidボーンの設定

エラー:Animator.avatar is not humanoid. Please change model's AnimationType to humanoid. Require


Create folder of only VRM for control files.
You can rename it yourself, but in this tutorial use “VRMmeta”.

If your unity get some error, you can't export complete.
Common error: Lose materials. Lose mesh data. etc…
Please check your fhx data.


Edit meta about VRM

After complete export VRM meta, “prefab” file automatically created. Please drag it on scene and drop it.
Now, you can delete FBX model from scene.


Select object, you can input data for meta and some script. You can add infomations and agreement. Now, let explain about “Important” ites.

VRMの出力

Input VRMmeta data, let export VRM.
Select root of VRM model object.
Click on menu [VRM]→[UniVRM-0.49]→[Export humanoid].


Click “Export” and save it.
This file is “VRM file”

When you use VRM avatar, you need upload this VRM for THE SEED ONLINE or Niconirittai. Upload to nikonirittai
